Dubai Women’s College celebrated its first graduation ceremony on 14th June 2015, amidst much excitement and an outpouring of accolades and well wishes for the graduating class of 19 girls.
The event was attended by several dignitaries and VIPs including U.S Consul General to U.A.E, Robert Waller and founder of Pansophic Learning, Ron Packard; who in his address to the Class of 2015 said he was honored to be witnessing the graduation of the first set from a blended learning, all girls school in the United Arab Emirate under his group of partner schools. A feat he would never have imagined possible when he began Pansophic Learning 15 years ago in the U.S, to meet the educational needs of his 3rd grade child.
The pivotal moment of the event however, was the keynote address by Sheikha Dr. Alia Al Quasimi who forfeited her prepared speech to give an emotional message to the girls as she expressed her amazement at their confidence and obvious readiness to face the challenges of the world ahead. Sheikha Dr. Alia was instrumental in founding DWCHS three years ago under Sheikh Al Nahyan’s tenure as Minister for Higher Education, when she admitted she had reservations about the outcome of the first blended learning model in the GCC, but acclaimed herself to now be pleasantly surprised and thus a true believer!
